3 questions / issues

Hello everyone! I have 3 small issues I hope you can help with. PP 19 studio on a Mac. Face sculpt, Skin Lighting, Hair, Picture, and Layers tabs are turned off. 1. I find some images end up with a small amount of reddish colour on the subject's cheeks. I try to get rid of it by unselecting the Makeup tab, but it doers not seem to make a difference and that setting is not remembered, even if I update the default profile. How do I eliminate the reddish cast on the face/cheeks. 2. How to do I get PP to remember my No Makeup setting? 3. I have to remove the Skin Smoothening mask on the lips else the lipstick is smeared on the skin around the lips. This happens on all photos, whether the lipstick is a very faint or vibrant. Around the Lips setting is 0. I have Mouth and Nose settings to increase lip saturation, darken, contrast, and moisten. Any idea of a setting that will not smear lipstick? Looking forward to your ideas! John

What is your Lightroom workflow for multiple images?

Hi - I use PortraitPro Studio 22 for processing photos of family photography. What's the best workflow for you?  I typically set up a default male / female / child and then bring up images one by one in Lightroom and process in PP (with a TIFF image added to the set in LR). Sometimes I export them all as .jpg and batch process (the jpg files go faster than RAW files) Please share how you manage processing a photoshoot of multiple images thank you

open HEIC files

Heic is a very used file format. Especially for photograph enthusiasts I hope it's added soon to all apps (portrait, landscape, body) at least for opening files... Even MS Paint is capable of opening them! Greetings

PortraitPro 23, How to save a photo without exit?

Hi, I just finished a photo that required an extensive mask to get the background right.   I'd like to save the photo with the current background and not exit... but swap in another background and save that too. Can someone please tell me how to do this so I don't have to do the mask all over again? Thank you,  KissMyKite

PBS

I was a PortraitPro user (used versions 9.8 and 10) kind of went away to other things and became an infrequent user. Today I decided to upgrade to latest version of PortraitPro and chose PBS as my bonus. I launched PBS and saw getting started which I usually skip. This time I chose to try it and I am very impressed with the ease of use, hands on experience, the instructions and help guide in the tutorial. It is by far one of the best hands-on training material I have encountered in my life. I developed, used and managed complex Electronic CAD software for a living has been using photo manipulation tools for a long time. I haven't used the software yet, and seeing what can be done, I am very excited. I want to express my appreciation for a job well done to your team. Sury

Double Chins

First, I love all the capabilities in Portrait Professional 22! So overall it saves me a lot of time editing and improves my final product for family portraits / headshots. With that said, one of the big issues to be tackled is the dreaded double chin. This comes up fairly often in my work. I do what I can in Lightroom with some skin lightening but Photoshop is the last resort, slows me down :-( Any idea when you'll add it to the feature set?  Thank you for considering this one

Random tips

Hello everyone I am not a pro at this, but wanted to share a few tips I have learned from trial and error. I hope you find these useful. Highlights: In processing the file before loading into PP, up the highlights/whites a bit as PP tends to tone them down and you lose a bit of sparkle in the end result. When processing, you can reduce the effect of toned-down highlights by removing the retouching mask from some of the highlight spots. This will show a bit more texture in those areas, but will reintroduce that sparkle. Consider adding extra texture and sharpness to the image before you open in PP. that will give your photo sparkle and details on clothing, jewelry, and other areas, and you can tone it down on skin areas in PP. PP tends to not auto-select hands for processing. Hands often show a lot of bone structure and veins, so ensure you select them if PP misses them. If hands are prominent, you want to remove the mask between the fingers and from fingernails. We expect the space between fingers to be fairly dark, and PP lightens those shadows, so they do not look normal. We expect fingernails to be glossy, so deselecting them will keep them shiny and sparkly. Belly buttons and nostrils should also be dark, like the space between fingers, so remove the mask from belly button and nostrils. Manually selecting a face is faster than the auto selecting process. Don't produce plastic-looking skin! Set your settings to a nice, minimum setting, and add extra smoothening to problem areas. Knees often need a bit of extra help. You want a bit of texture in skin! PP Studio saves TONS of time by allowing you to open 20 or 30 files sequentially! what a great feature. Spring for that if you can! Enjoy! John

Body and Pro not showing up in PS CC2022

New Mac Book M1 Pro Max and tried to install the SW. Both did fine and activated fine.  But they are not showing up in PS.  When I've installed these on Windows in the past, I got a separate pop up asking if I wanted to install in Photoshop.   Not sure how to activate this in PS as I don't use these apps stand-alone.

BUG

I just upgraded to PP V22.  When using the Lighting and Coloring module the Master Fader is tied to the vertical position of the light. This is a major problem because when you adjust the light it changes the master and the other way around.

Apple M1 native support

Hi All, I’m using portrait pro for years and I recently discovered that it’s still an intel application. So yes it works on the new M1, but as it uses the compatibility mode and it’s not a native app, it’s very slow. Especially while using portrait pro studio max. Any information on an update ? If no update on the pipeline, is there any other app you can recommend?

PS Actions Can't Remember PortaitPro Preset

Greetings,, I'm Ash.  15+ years commercial shooter. Mostly portrait work. I'm trying to automate my retouching process which uses Portrait Pro.   I've created a photoshop action in which I: 1. Open the PP plugin via Filter menu. 2. Select my PP preset. 3. Return to image. This layer is then blended down to about 50% On testing, this works fine.   However, later in my retouching process, I use PP again for hair and background adjustments. This layer is not blended down. I have compiled my entire retouching process into a single action by recording the playing of the various actions. The issue I am having is the the PP plugin only remembers the last selected preset.  It doesn't apply the preset that was recorded in the PS action.  Any fix?

Issue with PP studio max 22

When I open an image it (default) opens with a preset on it instead of just opening as the original image. My question is how do I get an image to open in its original state? Using latest version of pp studio max 22. My old version which was pp15 did not do this.

Serious Problem with Markup of Face in v 22 in Tutorial Version ONLY

In the Tutorial Version ONLY When you adjust a point on the curves defining the jaw and the rest of the face, the lines disappear so you can't see how much of a change you have made. This is a terrible BUG, which never happened in prior versions of the software. I don't remember if this happened with the initial version of v 22 that I installed, but the update 22.0.6 certainly shows this problem. Huge frustrating waste of time. Fortunately, there is no such a problem when you load in your own photo ! ! ! Thanks, Dan

V22 presets

Am trying out the trial and I need to know if I can use my own backgrounds in the background change in the presets. If so where do I put the backgrounds I want to use in the automatic background replacement in presets? And also where would I put my skies if I want to add my own skies to the ones already in the program? Thank you.

No GPU processing support PP v22

Here is the question, and the disappointing answer back, from PP support: Dixon Marshall Please, when will GPU support be added to Portrait Pro Studio Max 22? This is a very important feature, it has really sped up my workflow on the last couple of versions. Regards, Dixon 2021-10-31 23:13 Peter Hi Dixon, I'm afraid we currently do not have GPU support for PP22. We are working on a GPU upgrade but if there are no benefits to a significant number of users then we will not release it. Warm regards, Peter Anthropics Technology 2021-11-02 16:53 Great. There is a significant speed improvement for me when using the nVidia GPU in my machine to process images in studio max 21, especially when batch processing. All of my other modern editing tools allow for GPU-centric processing, as they should, with the simple tick of a box in the settings. Portrait Pro is a heavy user of processing resources. I am currently reverted v21 because it is faster due to the GPU capability. The strange thing is, in the last couple of versions that had the GPU capability, you have to download a separate, very large executable to enable it. This is not the case in any other software that I have used; you just put a tick in the box.  But that's okay, as long as the GPU can be enabled, I don't care if I have to jump through a hoop or two.

Portrait Pro Causing Drastic Overexposure - WHY????

I recently upgraded to PP 21 Studio Max from (IIRC V15).  Lots of great improvements, but...  there's a HUGE issue that I cannot seem to find a resolution for.  When I am working on an image with multiple faces, the background exposure is increased to the point where highlights are blown and the image rendered unusable.  The image I'm working on has eight people in it, and all I want PP to do is "cover up the worst of the their sins" - this isn't a commercial model shot, but when I load the image, correct the sex identity and then let it run the auto processing, the exposure, especially in the whites & highlights jumps 1-2 stops.  I've turned off ALL of the modules in 'General' and set all the options in 'Presets' to 'Original', but that still doesn't correct the issue.  I'm used to PP brightening the image slightly, and what appears to be happening is that it's multiplying that amount of exposure increase by the number of people in the image. If you look at the image below, you can see that the white sweater worn by the woman in the middle is totally blown out in the 'After' whereas the 'Before' is just fine.  HOW do I prevent the software from increasing exposure like this??????
