3 Tips for Choosing a Children's Playhouse

You've just decided to treat your children & family to the fun of an upscale children's playhouse and are beginning your research. Great! But what features should you look for? Here at Lilliput Play Homes, we know playhouses. We've built and shipped playhouses all over the world. When we build a children's playhouse, we build it to last. Asking these three questions from any vendors will help you on your search for the perfect playhouse. What is the playhouse made out of?Our playhouses are made of durable PVC, which is long-lasting and easy to clean, providing years of beauty and protection from wear and tear compared to a wooden playhouse. Our popular Cotton Candy Manor PlayhouseDo I need a foundation for my playhouse? Some playhouses on the market may require a poured concrete foundation. Our playhouses come with a wooden base much like that of a house deck. It is constructed of a 2x4 frame with decking. The base should be set on small concrete pads or stepping stones which are not provided but available at most building centers. One is needed for each corner. A small percentage of customers pour a concrete pad as a foundation. This is not necessary but does provide a more permanent installation. How long until I receive my playhouse?Get a full build and shipping estimate from your chosen vendor. Our lead time varies with the season and the playhouse model. Generally processing requires 2-4 weeks plus shipping. The months of May, June and July may require additional time. If a specific date is requested which is earlier than the specified lead time, please check with Lilliput. We can sometimes accommodate rush orders.Contact us with any further questions while you research playhouse providers. We're ahppy to answer your questions!

Sweeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!

We are proud, once again, to be a part of the spectacular Holiday House of Candy created by the Hershey Company.  We built a special version of our Main Street Town Hall playhouse to which the amazing "choclatiers" at Hershey World attached thousands of pieces of Hershey candy. This is no easy task. The designers at Hershey spend weeks prior to construction to planning and designing the structure. We build the playhouse with special reinforcing to carry the weight of the candy.  Then the candy is painstakenly attached to the playhouse by hand.  Special care and patience is a must while creating this Holiday treat.  But when completed............WOW!!!The candy and the playhouse is donated to charity after the holiday season.  It is great to once again be a part of this wonderful Holiday event.

Check out what's coming!!!

We introduced three new playhouse designs at a recent trade show.  A new Theater, Police Station and Bank will soon become a part of our Main Street Playhouse Collection. The Theater playhouse is a classic Art Deco design reminiscent of Hollywood's Golden Era. It has a lighted marquee, ticket window and we can even provide a "walk of fame" sidewalk star.  You can also send us your children's hand or footprints and we'll cut it in a sidewalk as well.  Hooray for Hollywood!!!The new Police Station has a holding cell, wanted poster, call box, fingerprint station and even a donut box. Everything needed to keep our streets safe.Children can learn about finance at our new stately Bank playhouse. It has an ATM, drive-up window, vault, and teller counter.  No bail-out needed here!!The fun doesn't end there though!!! Place the Police Station playhouse next to the Bank playhouse and you'll discover a tunnel carved out of the holding cell into the Bank vault!!!  Awesome!!!  "Leave the gun, take the cannoli."

Little House on the Prairie

We created this frontier wooden playhouse with our friends at the Children's Museum of Richmond.  It's part of a larger exhibit exploring the different regions of Virginia.  We used old weathered wood and real mortar to make this backyard playhouse have that old Virginia homestead look. Now we're ready for a campfire and marshmallows.

The Sky's the Limit at this Complete Playhouse Village

We recently installed this little indoor playhouse village in a wonderful new preschool near West Palm Beach, FL.  Despite limited space we were able to get a lot of indoor play in this playhouse village.  We redesigned the Diner playhouse to fit into the corner using our years of commercial playhouse installation expertise   Kinda turned out well!!!The creative and hard-working owners of the preschool had prepared the sky and clouds.  They plan to add an airplane overhead for a complete playhouse village.  The Kid's will love it!!!!

Lilliput's Signature "Attention To Detail"

I love when clients invite us into their world by sharing photos and details of their own homes.   Normally, clients ask if we can paint the playhouse in similar (or the same) paint colors as the family home. "Absolutely," I assure them.   Often, clients ask if we can change the dimensions of the playhouse.  "No problem," I reply.   In a recent conversation with a client, the woman asked about changing the paint colors and the dimensions of the playhouse; she needed a slightly smaller width on the Princess Cottage to fit her yard.  I diligently made my notes and offered to provide her with a CAD rendering of her playhouse, to make sure we had all the details correct.  Then, she asked if we could duplicate the festoons over her windows and door.  I admit, I was stumped.  First, I had to figure out what a "festoon" was!        fes·toon (noun)     1.  a string or chain of flowers, foliage, ribbon, etc., suspended in a curve between two points.      2.  a decorative representation of this, as in architectural work or on pottery.      3.  a fabric suspended, draped, and bound at intervals to form graceful loops or scalloped folds. I consulted with my boss, Steve, and our Production Manager, Ron (who happens to also be a genius on the CNC router).  "Sure," was their response (I think they already knew what a festoon was).   We presented her with this sample:She was thrilled.  "Perfect!" she cried.   And so, this adorable playhouse came to be: Oh yeah.  And note the "wrought iron grill" Ron added to her front door.    Attention-to-detail is just one of the many benefits you receive with every Lilliput play home, standard or custom.

The "WOW!" That Lasts A Lifetime

Can't you just hear the squeals of delight when she saw her new Cotton Candy Manor?Or see that little guy opening the front door of his new Lil' Raskal's Lookout, peering in with awe and amazement? Childhood races by.  No one knows that better than us adults!  I love when clients share stories of their own excitement when presenting their children (or grandchildren) with a Lilliput play home.A grandmom actually slept outside in the playhouse the night before her grandchildren were going to see their playhouse for the first time; A mom told me she's had a photo of our Storybook Bungalow on her refrigerator ever since she found out she was pregnant with their first child...yesterday she purchased it to celebrate her daughter's 3rd birthday this spring.  I can only imagine that party; The older sister who is passing her children's playhouse down to her younger sister's growing family. The stories go on and on.  Families who not only cherish, but celebrate, the joy and magic of childhood.Let Lilliput Play Homes turn your dreams into their squeals of delight.  Cherish those precious childhood years for a lifetime.
