Mona has been guiding Bhajji with his dance steps
Mona Singh (Jassi fame) is all smiles these days and why not? The girl is not only getting rave reviews about her performance with Harbhajan Singh on ‘Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena’ but has also got her big break with Raj Kumar Hirani signing her for a pivotal role in ‘3 Idiots’. Apparently, she has a track totally separate from the Aamir-Kareena one and also not featured in Chetan Bhagat’s novel.
Mona confirmed the news saying, “Ya, I am doing Raj Kumar Hirani’s film. And I couldn’t have hoped for a better birthday gift. What do I play? All I can tell you is, I don’t play one of the idiots. I play the sayaani (wise) character, ha ha.”
Talking about her long wait to get a role on the bigger screen, Mona says, “A couple of projects that were meant to happen never did. But I’m glad Raju Hirani signed me. It’s a fabulous role.”
The Singh girl is all bowled over by Harbhajan Singh and says, “In fact Bhajji was one of the first to wish me on my birthday. We’ve become very close buddies. I think it’s the Punjabi connection. He has a reputation for being hotheaded. I’ve quite a temper myself. So we’re fine with one another.” Mona has been guiding Bhajji with his dance steps. “I’ve almost become his choreographer. He completely depends on me to see me through.”

The film is based on The life of Vijayaraje Scindia, queen of Gwalior, played by Hema Malini. The film will be produced by Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Smriti Trust. This will be Hema Malini’s second historical feature film after Kamal Amrohi’s RAZIA SULTAN. Hrithik Roshan confirmed the actor’s commitment to the role with Sanjay Leela Bhansali
The Bollywood Emperor Hrithik Roshan is reportedly all set to work with the talented director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, whom he had always desired to work with. Reports reveal that the superstar gave a ‘yes’ to the filmmaker, when he approached Hrithik for his next project.
However, there has not been any official confirmation of the deal from Hrithik’s side. His business manager neither denied nor confirmed the actor’s commitment to the role. Not much has been revealed about Sanjay’s forthcoming film but evidently, if Hrithik is playing a character then the film would surely be exceptional, as the actor is extremely choosy about the films he does.
Hrithik is presently shooting for his home-production ‘Kites’ in Los Angeles. He will be back in Mumbai with his team on October 12 after which he would resume in accordance to Mumbai schedule.

That’s what her latest film, Heroes is all about, she says. The film is a multi-starrer with a cast that includes Preity and Salman Khan, Sohail, Khan, Vatsal Seth, Amrita Arora, Mithun Chakraborty, Sunny and Bobby Deol among others.
Apparently, each of these stars has a story of their own in the film, so which story according to Preity is the most interesting? “Salman and mine, of course,” she says smiling mischievously. “It was a lot of fun sitting under trees, plucking mangoes, milking cows and chasing goats,” she says about her shooting experience. The film comes across as patriotic, so is there a message for the youth? “Absolutely not. I find films that lecture the most boring. I will never do a film that lectures. I’m happy because I’ve always wanted to do earthy, rural roles, and people said I could never look poor and couldn’t be given such roles,” she goes on. A lot of actors have recently played Sardars in their films.
There was Akshay, Sunny and now Salman. Who, according to Preity, makes the best Sardar? “Salman, definitely,” she says seriously. “He grew a beard over two weeks for the role. If you thought that bong beauty Rani Mukherjee had said goodbye to Bollywood, you are in the dark. Yes, her fairy tale makeover in ‘Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic’ failed to do the trick for her, the actress is not the one to quit.
Following Bipasha Basu, this time Rani Mukherjee will be seen wooing younger Shahid Kapoor in the coming year in not one but two flicks. And if reports are to be believed, then the duo will be seen doing several ‘roll in the hay’ scenes in two flicks. The first one is being produced by Rani’s favorite banner ‘Yash Raj’ with beau Aditya Chopra directed by debutante director Anurag Singh.
The other one will be directed by Priyadarshan, it will be a social-drama; and have his trademark wacky comedy. The film is said to be a thriller with loads of twists and turns. It is very different from anything that Priyan has done before. Shahid’s character will have shades of grey. He double crosses everyone including his lady love in the film. The shooting of the film is said to start by early next year.
Priyadarshan, however, denies everything about the flick. He simply says, “I am not aware of this.”

Actress Minissha Lamba worked really hard to shape up to carry off a bikini with panache in Sanjay Gadhvi’s "Kidnap", but she credits co-star Imran Khan for helping her maintain her weight.
"Imran helped me in my weight loss regime," Minissha told.
"During the shootings, I was on a high-protein diet. While I was surviving mostly on protein bars, Imran used to get his dabba (lunch box) from home with delicious keema (minced meat).
"The aroma of the keema always tempted me, so Imran stopped eating in front of me. He used to sit in a corner, far away from me. Since I couldn’t smell it, I didn’t get tempted," she quipped.
After having worked extremely hard for her sexy image in "Kidnap", Minissha now plans to stick to her healthy diet forever.
"It was eight long months of denying myself cakes and pastries. But I plan to continue to stick to the same diet. And now that I’m in shape, I don’t feel like eating stuff that’s wrong for me. My body has gotten used to being in a particular way and resistant to putting on weight. It also rejects something that is not right for it," Minissha said.
Though the sprightly actress is a big time chocolate consumer, she has reduced her intake of brownies from three-four a week to just one in 10 days.
In "Kidnap", which released last week, Minissha plays Sanjay Dutt’s 17-year-old estranged daughter who is kidnapped. Before "Kidnap", she played a dreamy-eyed teenager opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Yash Raj Films’ "Bachna Ae Haseeno".
Minissha made her debut in 2005 with critically acclaimed "Yahaan". She was praised for portraying the dilemma of a Kashmiri girl torn between her army officer lover and her militant brother.
After that, she was seen in a variety of roles in films like "Corporate", "Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.", "Shaurya" and "Dus Kahaniyaan".
But her role in "Kidnap" is a first of its kind for her as it gave her an image makeover.
"I wasn’t looking for any sort of different image in a film. I only thought about an image change when Sanjay (Gadhvi) offered me ’Kidnap’. He said, ’I want you to wear a bikini in the film; the character is very hep, very trendy and very Alicia Silverstone from ’Clueless’.
"I think after three years of being in this industry, establishing myself as a girl next door, having a certain fan base and an audience, I felt it was the right time to try something different and the vehicle for that change came along in ’Kidnap’," Minissha explained.
Minissha had no qualms getting into skimpy clothes. Instead, she was confident of the director, who has earlier shot Esha Deol and Bipasha Basu in a bikini in "Dhoom" and "Dhoom 2" respectively.
She said: "I knew that if I’m going to be in a Sanjay Gadhvi film, it’s going to be stylish and slick. Sanjay has a signature style and, therefore, I was happy to adhere to it. I knew it has worked well in the past. So for me, it was as good as letting myself surrender to a person who I could trust."
Rani is desperately wanting to resurrect her dwindling career
Rani Mukherji and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are no longer on sharing the same camaraderie which they once shared. It is all thanks to Rani’s diplomatic behaviour.
Bhansali was responsible for Rani’s career best performance in Black which won her many awards. Expressing her gratitude she had done a small cameo in his Saawariya which was the launching pad of Ranbir and Sonam Kapoor.
An industry source told us, "When Bhansali approached Rani yet again for a small cameo for his production Chenab Gandhi, she declined the offer.
She clearly told him that she loved the script and would love to do it only if she was offered the main lead part. She was not willing to play second fiddle to Vidya Balan who was finalized as the main lead opposite Harman Baweja.
Bhansali told her that he won’t change Vidya as that would be very unprofessional on his part. Rani refused to budge."
Industry observers feel it was purposely done by Rani as she didn’t want to be a part of any Bhansali film.
She doesn’t wish to offend Shah Rukh Khan who is not on good terms with Bhansali post their potshots at each other last year. The King Khan had poked fun of Saawariya post his flopping and this had angered Bhansali a lot.
He in return too had not left any chance to give a verbal lashing to SRK. Rani is desperately wanting to resurrect her dwindling career and feels Shah Rukh is a better bait than Bhansali whose market value has gone down post Saawariya.
Priyanka mingled well along all and she moved into tears while valediction
The bikini babe Priyanka Chopra had a blast shooting for Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion. She had spent a considerable amount of time with the entire team of Fashion and got emotionally attached with them and now that the final time has come to bid good-bye to all, she turned emotional and could not hold her tears. Madhur wrapped up the final shoot in Hyderabad and all the members bade good-bye to each other. In almost year long shooting, Priyanka mingled well along all and she moved into tears while valediction.
Madhur speaks about Fashion, “We have been shooting on and off for almost a year now and as a unit, we have become very close to each other. Priyanka and Kangana Ranaut will always be very special. They have been amazingly focused and intelligent. When I saw them on the ramp, I realised that I had to put in some powerful scenes between them. I incorporated some powerful confrontational scenes between the two actresses. They have been fabulous together. So were Mughda Godse and Arjan Bajwa. It was a sad day for us when the shoot ended. We were all very emotional and Priyanka actually met and thanked everyone individually.”

Yes thats absolutely true that Eesha asked Sonu a Rishta for marriage. No the pretty actress has no such plans of luring the happily married man Sonu Sood, as you must have thought so (by now). Actually its about those days when Eesha and Sonu were shooting for Rajshri Productions forthcoming film EK VIVAAH AISA BHI in full swing. At that time Sonus son Ishaan often used to visit the film sets to meet his daddy dearest Sonu and side-by-side also became very friendly with Eesha.
He became so fond of her that he declared his love for Eesha. And it did not end here, but Ishaan also told his dad Sonu that hell marry no one but her. Vidya Malvade’s reportedly super excited about the response to her new film ’Kidnap’. The fact that many critics have panned the film isn’t bothering her at all. Some have even called her a non actress who ’can’t act to save her life’. But Vidya’s living in her own world and has ’reasons’ to be happy about.
Apparently she’s excited about her so called sexy avatar, a departure from her image in ’Chak De! India’. She’s particularly pleased about the cleavage revealing outfits and the ravishing costumes she has donned in the film.
She’s glad that people are comparing her and saying that she gave her on screen daughter Minissha Lamba stiff competition in the film!
She has also comfortably ignored the fact that many have been making fun of how the two ladies in the film tried to outdo each other with their skimpy clothes (Minissha of course got far more chances to do that)!
She’s been saying, "I thought there was a very beautiful love story between Sanjay Dutt and my character. For me what worked was that lots of scenes were deleted and there is just one scene between me and Minissha to make a comparison that I look very young or like her sister.
For me it was very important to play this character. I don’t come from a family of actors. I have struggled my way up till here."
Yeah, it must have worked for her since Minishaa’s face gives away her age and she’s doesn’t really look like a 17 or 18 year old! That’s another thing ’illogical’ about this unreal thriller.
She’s also said, "When I get a character which is really good, I am not going to give it up just because it is the role of a mom or a grand mom.
I am very clear in my head that even if I am playing a character older than my age, I will make sure that I perform in a way that it will seem real.
Now if people start offering me mother’s role, I will say no to them as I have had already played one. If a good character comes to me in whatever form, I am going to grab it big time."
That’s understandable since she’s been struggling to make a mark for long in B-Town.
Vikram Bhatt’s disaster ’Inteha’ did nothing for her and only B grade movies happened after that. ’Cha De! India’ helped but there were countless other girls to compete with.
SRK revealed that he does not consider Salman as his brother
In a recent interview post Eid to a leading website, SRK revealed that he does not consider Salman as his brother.
When asked wether he considers Salman as his brother, he replied, “No. I have an older sister, Shahnaz Lala, who lives with me. I only work with my colleagues and I love them all but I don’t make them my brother or sister. I have a wife, a sister and two children and they are my life.
My family does not harbour any ill will towards anyone. I love Karan [Johar] and Farah [Khan] and they are such people with whom I can make an emotional investment.”
When quizzed whether he wished Salman a happy Eid, he said, “I wish everyone happy Eid. Wishes are not for an individual but for everyone. “

Bollywood actress and Ajay Devgan’s wife Kajol Devgan has been appointed goodwill ambassador and patron of the UK based Loomba Trust, a charity devoted to educating widow’s children, particularly in India.
Cherie Blair, President of Loomba Trust and wife of former British prime minister Tony Blair presented Kajol with a plaque at Whitehall during a ceremony to celebrate UN International Day of Non-violence commencing on Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday and festival of Diwali on Thursday evening. The function was graced by India’s High Commissioner to the UK Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, Mayor of London Boris Johnson, former Mayor Ken Livingstone, Lord Navnit Dholakia - Deputy leader of the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords among others.
Cherie Blair said the trust would extend its activities to Sri Lanka, Nepal, South Africa and Luanda. It has already helped educate 3,500 children of widows in India.
Kajol was thrilled at the honour and said, “I will do my very best to be worthy of this appointment.”Raj Loomba, who founded the trust in the memory of his late mother expressed his confidence in the actress saying, “I hope Kajol will bring wealth of support and much needed wealth to our charity.”
Priyanka is suffering from a sore throat and her voice is reduced to a croak
The coming days are quite apprehensive for Priynaka Chopra for they will decide the fate of tow of her ambitious projects- ‘Drona’ where she plays Abhishek Bachchan’s bodyguard and ‘Fashion’ where she plays a supermodel. After playing a ramp model for “Fashion”, Priyanka recently walked the ramp for designer Ritu Kumar at the inaugural show of the HDIL Indian Couture Week.
Talking about her experience with ramp walk, Priyanka said, “Even after becoming an actress I’ve walked the ramp for friends like Rohit Bal and Vikram Phadnis. But not since I played a model in ‘Fashion’. Now walking the ramp at Ritu’s show it felt like I was doing a sequence for the film. I’ve done so much ramp-walking for the film, I feel I’m back to my modelling days.
At 17 when I first walked the ramp, I had done it for Rituji. And now again, after having played a model and walked the ramp continuously for a year for Madhur Bhandarkar’s film, when I got on the ramp for an actual fashion show, I couldn’t tell the difference between walking for ‘Fashion’ and for Ritu Kumar’s show. Both were ‘performances’ and still an integral part of my growth as a human being.”
These days Priyanka is busy with her shoot for Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Kaminey’. The film needs Priyanka to scream her lungs out for the character she plays and as a result Priyanka is suffering from a sore throat and her voice is reduced to a croak.
“I play this extremely vocal Maharashtrian girl. And I believe in making myself heard. Vishal has made sure my voice gets heard as far as possible,” Priyanka said.
Two make-up artists have been working on Mallika’s look
After superhit films like ‘Naagin’, ‘Nagina’ and ‘Jaani Dushman’ based on snakes and their revenges, this one is the next in Bollywood. What makes this special is that we have Bollywood’s sex kitten, Mallika Sherawat playing the snake woman here and that too, with an intricate detailing and styling to get into the right look for the Snake Woman in this film.
This Bollywood- Hollywood co-production, ‘Hissss’, is directed by renowned Hollywood director Jennifer Lynch. The film, which also stars Irrfan Khan, has Mallika play a character of a snake that transforms into a stunningly attractive woman. The film is produced by Govind Menon & Vikram Singh.
A lot of efforts has gone in from Robert Kurtzman, one of the greatest special effects artists of the West, to get the right look for Mallika in this film. Robert has worked on films such as Vanilla Sky, Pulp fiction, Spy Kids and Evil Dead. The kind of make-up used is MUFX (prosthetic make-up) technology. Two make-up artists have been working on Mallika’s look and the material she wears is so slimy that at times it just sticks to the skin. At times, it becomes difficult for Mallika to move with that makeup and she has to be carried to the sets.

‘Kidnap’ seems to be generating a lot of hype before it hits the theatres. After Aamir Khan gave the film thumbs-up after a special screening, Manyata held a special screening for Dutt’s good friends at Globus in Mumbai’s Bandra area.
Among those who attended the screening included producer Bunty Walia , Dharam Oberoi, Neha Oberoi , Sunil Shetty , director Soham Shah , Malaika Khan (Zayed Khan’s wife), Sophie Choudhary and Amisha Patel , among others.
Even Imran Khan has had a trial for his friends at Yashraj Studio though he couldn’t attend it himself.
Meanwhile, director Sanjay Gadhvi also plans to hold the screening for Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra in the coming days. Even though Gadhvi may have opted out of the Yashraj Films , he is still friends with them.
I said yes to Amrita Rao's husband-Kunal Kapoor
If you are wondering what prompted Kunal Kapoor into doing that two-minute walk-on part as Amrita Rao’s husband in Shyam Benegal’s Welcome To Sajjanpur then Kunal has no hesitation in saying he’s proud of the part.
"It was a lovely script. And I so wanted to be part of something done by Shyam Babu (Benegal). I’ve admired his work for as long as I can remember. When I came across the script I thought it was so lovely.
For me being part of good films is more important than playing a principal part. I haven’t seen the film. But know I’m hardly there. But working with Shyam Babu was so much fun.
I thought he’d be intimidating. But he had a grin on his face all the time. I was just happy to be part of a Shyam Benegal film. And so what if this was my second cameo in a row after Bachna Ae Haseenon?"
And then Kunal comes up with another reason for his presence in the superb Sajjanpur cast.
"Actually there’s a much less noble reason for why I did Sajjanpur. The producer Chetan Motiwalla is an old friend. I know him from the time I did my first film Meenakshi.
We had made a pact whichever film he makes first I’ll be a part of it. So not being in Sajjanpur was not an option. Since all the other roles were taken I said yes to Amrita Rao’s husband’s part."
Coincidentally Kunal also played a quiet out-of-sight husband’s cameo in Bachna Ae Haseenon. "What I liked about that guy was his quiet determination to win his wife’s love. Usually it’s the female spouse who shows such resilience. That made it fascinating. I had great fun shooting for this part in Punjab."
Kunal also got to play a Sikh for the first time. "I had played a Sardarji for a bit in Hat Trick. But then we changed my character to a Mona Sardar. So yes Bachna Ae Haeseenon was my first Sardarji’s part."
Kunal is not afraid of being typecast as a cameo king. "Sure, they can come to me with more cameo parts. But it’s my option to do them or not do them. In any case, like I said I’m not insecure about my career.
I’m not footage fanatic. I’m also in no hurry to sign films. I’m financially comfortable without having to sign in desperation. If you remember there was a long gap after my first film.
In fact I’m starting my next film Lamhaa with Sanjay Dutt and Bipasha Basu at the end of October. I’m using this time to prepare for my part."
Neetu reveals, "I play the role of a subordinate cop which was enacted by Tusshar Kapoo
This one is clearly unprecedented. Though it is a common practice to see actors filling in for others when a remake is being made, seldom has it been observed that a single actor doubles up for two actors. For the Telugu remake of a successful Hindi film, a leading lady has filled in as a package deal for a second lead hero as well as the item girl.
The girl who has done this is Neetu Chandra who would now be playing the role of Tusshar Kapoor as well as Lara Dutta in the Telugu remake of Raj Kumar Santoshi directed Khakee. The film is called SATYAMEVA JAYATE and is directed by Jeevita Rajasekhar.
Confirms Neetu Chandra, "I loved Khakee and there was no way I would have missed an opportunity to be a part of the story, even though it was made in Telugu. In any case this is not the first time that I am working in a project down South. I have earlier also acted in GODAVARI."
Talking about her presence in the film, Neetu reveals, "I play the role of a subordinate cop which was enacted by Tusshar Kapoor in the original.
The character was so well written that it was noticed in spite of Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Ajay Devgan in the film. Icing on the cake was to jig to the dance number that is based on ’Aisa Jadoo Daala Re’."
’Aisa Jadoo Daala Re’? Wasn’t it a standalone item number choreographed on Lara Dutta in Khakee?
Winks Neetu, "That’s the beauty of the script. The number has been amalgamated well into the role of the cop I play and the dance sequence is justified too. Composer Chinna has come up with an excellent tune which stands up for ’Aisa Jadoo Daala Re’."
The film also stars Sheril Pinty and Sanjana as the leading ladies other than Neetu Chandra. "I am happy with the part I play as it is that of a lead role. I picked it up because it had lots of action.
In fact you won’t believe the kind of stunts I have performed for the film", says Neetu who is not new to action and is a taekwondo black belt who has earlier represented India.
The film sees Milind Soman stepping in as a main villain with Atul Kulkarni being repeated from the original cast of Khakee. Apart from SATYAMEVA JAYATE, Neetu Chandra would be seen in films like OYE LUCKY LUCKY OYE, FLAT NO. 13B and KUSARPRASAD KA BHOOT in the coming months. - Joginder Tuteja.
