Aging and Migraines

Aging and Migraines Aging is a fact of life. Getting older means increasing frailty and susceptibility to illness, but it can also be a boon to migraineurs (people who experience migraine headaches). Only 2-10% of the elderly population experiences migraines (as opposed to up to 28% of adults under 65), and elderly women are still more likely to have them than their male counterparts. Migraines can happen at any age, but they peak around age 40. The frequency of migraine attacks after 40 decreases for most people. Many migraineurs who have suffered with this condition for years experience a reduction in the frequency and severity of attacks after age 55. About two thirds of migraineurs stop having attacks altogether by age 65. Patients over 65 who still have migraines report drastically decreased severity, duration, and frequency in their attacks. They are also less likely to experience the gastrointestinal upset that accompanies migraine in younger people. The downside to all this good news is that adults over 65 who suffer from migraines are more likely than younger patients to experience disability because of their affliction. Many physicians are uncomfortable with treating senior citizens for migraines because therapeutic methods used on younger people are often not tested for safety in an older patient. Additional conditions and the medications used to treat them complicate the problem. Seniors are more likely to be on one or more prescription drugs and each new medication increases the risk of adverse drug reactions. This possibility makes some doctors reluctant to offer senior migraineurs pharmaceutical assistance. The onset of migraines after age 50 is very rare and should be investigated with a doctor to rule out the possibility of secondary causes. Late onset does not rule out migraine (only one third of senior headaches are due to secondary conditions) but it makes it less likely. A “Mind Training” Technique That Makes You Stronger

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle By Tom Venuto The word “visualization” sometimes conjures up images of new age gurus teaching esoteric techniques for personal enlightenment and “attracting” what you want into your life. This causes many evidence-based types to scoff. However, piles of research has shown that mental imagery (aka “visualization”) can improve performance. The latest study suggests that a certain type of mental imagery can also increase your strength. Olympic champions and professional athletes have used visualization and mental rehearsal techniques for decades. Not only is visualization one of the most widely accepted techniques in sports psychology, it’s supported by scientific research. Nevertheless, many people remain skeptical. Some people agree that mental rehearsal might enhance specific skills, like a golf swing or a basketball throw, but they question whether it could make you stronger, increase muscle growth or help you lose weight. A new study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research suggests that indeed, mental imagery can make you stronger. This study also begins to explain how mental imagery works on a neurological level… Twenty two sports students, with a mean age of about 20, participated in the 6-week long experiment. Prior to the study, none had done mental imagery before. The students were divided into a control group and a mental rehearsal group. The goal was to see if mental imagery could increase bench press and leg press strength. Each participant was given very specific instructions on how to perform the mental imagery. During the rest period between sets, they were to vividly imagine the exercise movement and the muscle contractions generated from each rep. After 12 workout sessions, the mental imagery group had significantly increased their strength more than the control group, especially in the lower body (leg press). The researchers concluded: “The results provided evidence that mental imagery did contribute to improve strength of the leg muscles without any macroscopic structural change” What they were saying is that the duration of the study wasn’t long enough that there was any major muscle size increase, so they credited the strength increase to non morphological adaptations. It’s well known in exercise science that gains in strength occur from changes not just in the muscle fibers and surrounding tissues, but in the nervous system. That gives us clues about how mental imagery works. Put simply, mental training techniques, (since they’re working with your brain/nervous system – as the name implies), can trigger some of the same neurological adaptations that occur from physical training. Apparently, mental imagery can increase synchronization of motor units in muscles, having large corresponding cortical areas in the primary motor cortex. There are also psychological benefits, such as increased motivation, improved focus during the set, technique improvements, more confidence and less apprehension or anxiety. But clearly, there’s more to this than just “psyching up.” Here’s something else interesting. The researchers even suggested that mental imagery could decrease strength loss when athletes are inactive due to injury. This recent study is a practical one because it gives us one specific technique that you can apply to your next workout: vividly imagine a successful lift for the upcoming set while you’re resting between sets. NOTE: it’s important to mentally see (visualize) the exercise and mentally “FEEL” the muscle contraction. This is multi-sensory – both visual and kinesthetic. In some of my previous articles, I talked about density training and superset training as excellent techniques for busy people because these methods reduce rest intervals, making the workout time efficient. But the rest time between heavy sets doesn’t have to be wasted – now you know what to do with that time… Instead of chatting with your gym buddies, or scoping out the attractive bods in the gym, you can be mentally rehearsing your next set… and enjoying the strength increase that follows. Most fat loss programs only focus on diet or physical training. Gardasil Vaccine – Parent Awareness Warning

This is a stern parent awareness warning about a dangerous vaccine known as: Gardasil and it should be taken seriously. Since the approval of the vaccine by the FDA in 2006, health-care groups have shouted out warnings of danger, and have also said that Merck has energetically mass-marketed Gardasil with disregard both for known current side effects as well as for possible long-term side effects. Here are some of the established risks that were found by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): Be Aware Parents* As of June 1, 2009 Gardasil has been responsible for 43 deaths of the 25 million doses distributed in the United States.* Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a peripheral neuropathy that can result in paralysis and death, have been reported to the CDC as a result of Gardasil vaccination. * Blood Clots occurring in the heart, lungs and legs have reportedly been triggered by Gardasil. About 40 percent of adverse effects occur on the day of vaccination. Approximately 14,000 reports have been made, with 93 percent considered by the CDC to be “non-serious,” and 7 percent to be “serious.” What does the reporting of 14,000 incidents of side effects really mean? Dr. Russell Blaylock, a nationally recognized neurosurgeon, health practitioner, and editor of The Blaylock Wellness Report, said, “Multiply the number of incidents actually reported by ten and you’ll get an accurate number." Vaccine Has Never Been Proved EffectiveDr. Blaylock said, “The vaccine has never been proven to be effective, and by the time the vaccine would be needed to prevent cancer would be years later and the vaccine would be long gone from the system. If you have the organism already in your cervix, the vaccine actually increases the cervical cancer rate.” In the light of such serious side effects, the cost/benefit ratio in terms of both lives and money must be weighed. And some frightening facts are emerging about Gardasil. In an ABC interview, Dr. Harper said, “Although the number of serious adverse events is small and rare, they are real and cannot be overlooked or dismissed without disclosing the possibility to all other possible vaccine recipients.” Dr. Harper then dropped what some consider to be a bombshell: “The rate of serious adverse events is greater than the incidence rate of cervical cancer.” No matter what the health threats are on our body, whether adult or child, it is always wise to keep your body as healthy as you can. Parents remember it is wise to educate your children in matters of sexual behavior too. Learn more here.

See Without Glasses – It Has Been Proven

There are people who have now learned they can see without glasses. It has been proven to them that they don’t need them any longerEven though glasses are called 'corrective lenses,' they don't correct your vision. They merely aid your vision temporarily... and they do NOT keep your sight from getting worse over ime. Poor Vision Is Not Necessarily PermanentBut poor vision is one of today's most common health problems -- over half of us wear glasses -- and if you're like millions of people today, you probably believe there's nothing you can do to save your eyesight. That's a crime. Because you already possess the power to enjoy clearer, stronger, unaided vision. And you can tap into that power immediately, thanks to an exciting program that's been developed by a leading Optomologist. you may even be able to discard your glasses -- for life. Even if you've been wearing glasses all your life, there is a revolutionary program that can unlock your natural ability to: * Read, write, drive, and more * See brighter colors, experience clarity, contrast, and greater depth perception * Enjoy relief from headache and fatigue due to eyestrain Poor Vision Can be restoredThe fact is that 97 percent of those who wear glasses were not born with vision problems -- or even an increased likelihood of suffering weak vision later in life. If you're among that 97 percent, you simply 'learned' how to NOT see. But it's never too late for you to 'relearn' to see clearly. And even if you're among the 3 percent born with vision problems, you can still enjoy major improvements in just a few weeks. Never believe that getting older has anything to do with poor vision. Think again. The visual system -- just like any other part of the body -- can deteriorate with age. But this decline is not inevitable and it is not irreversible. In fact, nothing is further from the truth. And even those with 'hopelessly' weak eyesight have seen dramatic improvements after using a program I found on the Internet. Check it out here.

Cure Anxiety and Panic Attacks - Easily Done

Here is the facts you should know. Anxiety is not an illness; it's a behavior condition. So you can cure anxiety and panic attacks and it is easily done. Now anxiety and panic attacks do produce some very frightening sensations such as: * Shaking visibly and also inside too * Choking sensations or lump in throat * Chest pain or discomfort * Shortness of breath * Dizziness or unsteadiness * and much more Be Careful Having any of these sensations could cause you to feel the necessity to go to a hospital E.R. only to find out you were having a panic attack and not a heart attack. Panic attacks symptoms are caused by a number of biological changes that occur during times of stress and anxiety. The human body is strong and resilient. Even in times of anxiety you are strong, although you might not feel it. Don't Become Scared No one has ever come to any harm as a result of anxiety or a panic attack. Even though you might get scared you heart might stop; it's not likely to happen. This is just a very common symptom of a panic attack. The heart is a muscle, raising the heart rate exercises it, making it fitter. If you wouldn't worry about it when racing for the bus, why worry about it when it happens during anxiety? Panic attack symptoms are harmless. No Medication Will Cure  The downside of these panic attack symptoms is that your body will feel tired and shaky after they subside. People even experience muscle tension and it can cause pain in the neck, chest and shoulders. There is no medication in the world, which can cure your anxiety-related issues. Medicines simply suppress your stress. They never eradicate it. Do not allow these unpleasant panic attacks and sensations to get the best of you, after all that is all they are. The nerves tell the brain what it should be feeling under certain conditions and the brain responds. The brain may interpret all kinds of confused signals and you might receive perceived sensations that never have and never can, hurt anyone. You can learn how to cure anxiety and panic attacks naturally by clicking here.

Some people might experience the fear of growing old – but I can tell you it is not bad at all.  Even if you are not totally healthy you can still have fun in your life no matter what your age. If you still have a spouse growing old together can produce some pleasant days in your life.  If you live in a retirement community you can find fun things to do with friends easily. Watch video here. When my wife and I first retired to a community in Florida it wasn’t as much fun as it is now.  The fun things to do with friends were limited.   No planned activities were scheduled there and the whole complex was not that appealing. So after a few years we left this community and went someplace else where we are now.  There is all the amenities you could ask for:  Heated olympic size pool and hot tub; athletic facility, table pool; shuffleboards, tennis courts and regularly planned social events. Now there are a few other things you should be doing so you never will experience the fear of growing old: 1) Take care of your body.  Eat healthy foods.  Prepare foods that are nutritional and tasty.  Don’t get caught up in eating fast foods or processed foods.2) Keep your weight at a healthy level.  Use any athletic facilities that are available to you.3) Exercise.  Many senior citizens in our community walk or ride their bicycles several times a week.4) Get on a program of some proper nutritional supplements you need to take daily.  Not all foods will supply you with the proper nutrients you need on a daily basis.5) Do the things that make you most happy.  Keep a positive outlook on life.  A healthy mind can keep your whole body happy.  Here’s a program that can help you fill that need. It’s a real blessing when both spouses can live ripe old ages and are able of growing old together.  Life is more fun and enjoyable when that happens.

U.S. Contaminated Foods – Too Shocking To Believe

The U.S.D.A. Certification process is too shocking to believe because it does not always prevent contaminated foods. Their policies are dangerously flawed. The violations of food safety has, many times, been ignored or passed over by the U.S.D.A. without any kind of enforcement or recall until people are sickened or die. That was the recent case of the recalling of ground turkey after 107 were sickened and one died in 31 states. This just adds yet more evidence to the proof that the U.S. Government maliciously promotes dangerous food borne illness outbreaks rather than trying to prevent them. It’s evident, in this case, that the U.S. Department of Agriculture knew ground turkey produced by Cargill was widely contaminated with salmonella, yet it did nothing about it and waited for fatalities to occur. Salmonella food poising is occurring more and more these days because USDA regulations are not rigorously followed. How did this happen in the case of this recent ground turkey recall?  Well believe it or not current USDA Regulations allow a meat production facility to pass inspection even if 49.9% of the meat is contaminated with salmonella. So even when the U.S.D.A. is inspecting facilities, they can be downright filthy from a pathogenic point of view, with nearly half of all the meat contaminated, and the U.S.D.A. still gives it a stamp of approval. This action should be considered a criminal offense in my opinion.  Here we are with a government agency who grossly violates food safety standards and the unsuspecting public thinks the product is healthy because it is stamped USDA inspected.  This video will show you some shocking conditions that are happening in the beef industry too.  After watching it you should realize you should never buy another meat product unless it is an organic product. So the whole idea of “food safety” and the hope that Big Government is somehow going to make our food supply safer is a joke. Wake up America!  Be more conspicuous about the quality of food and observant about what you eat today.  Here’s how to get and stay healthy in all areas of your life.

List of Painkillers That Will Destroy Your Life

Got a pain? Pain killer drugs are not the right answer to your problem.  They will destroy your life. Listen close to what I am about to reveal. Not only that but the side effects of painkillers can be enormous. I’m going to spell it out to you the many dangers of the few most popular drugs. Tylenol/Aspirin About 15% of the people on dialysis are there as a result of the damage that Tylenol and/or aspirin did to their kidneys. These two drugs may also be associated with diverticular disease of the colon, too.  Individuals who used either drug regularly were 2.5 times more likely to be diagnosed with chronic renal failure, compared with individuals who did not use these pain killers. Advil/Aleve  Not only may these over the counter drugs increase your blood pressure but they can also increase your risk of heart and kidney failure. It is concluded that a large portion of U.S. hypertension cases may be the result of over using these pain medications. Oxycontin  Is a long lasting painkiller designed to work for 12 hours when it’s swallowed whole.  However, if the pill is crushed, it’s produces heroin like high when it is swallowed, snorted or injected. It has caused many deaths over the years. Motrin  The parents of a girl who went blind after taking Children’s Motrin have sued Johnson and Johnson, saying the packaging didn’t adequately explain the possible risks. Motrin carries a long list of warnings and instructions beyond these most common symptoms, and stomach bleeding is just the beginning of that list. For some reason knowledge of how to enhance our automatic healing impulse has been lost in the United States and the Western world until every recently.  For several hundred years we have believed that disease comes from the outside and attacks the individual who is a helpless victim. Watch this very informative video here. The best and most profound medicine is already in us.  We must learn and then apply methods to turn the medicine on and activate its ability to heal us. The bottom line is, feed your body the right food and nutrients, exercise regularly, manage stress and the odds are the body will heal itself. Learn more here.

Healthy Body Healthy Mind - Let’s Make This Happen

Because of people’s busy schedules today the neglect to manage their health properly.  A healthy body healthy mind is usually not in the cards for them.  However let's make this happen, because it’s important to your survival.  It’s rightly known that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind so exercise is important. However it does not have to be difficult or lengthy in scope. A simple daily routine is better than none at all.  This one is about as easy and simple a I have ever seen. Your Thoughts and YouThis is also true about another program that will help you create a healthy mind set too. I was inspired by a statement made a few years ago that relates to this subject. Robert Stuberg, a motivational speaker and seminar leader said this.  “Your thoughts control your life and you control your thoughts".  "He goes on to say, you life is not controlled by random events, unless you want them to be.”  “You are not a victim of other’s actions, unless you think you are.” He continues by saying, “If you don’t like something in your life, you have the power to change it.”  If you desire something in your life, it’s in your power to change it.  “Then he emphasizes, change your Thoughts and you will change your Life.” Does that get your attention?  If so here’s a great way to put all that in practice.  Learn more here.Healthy Eating is Important And here is something I would like to emphasize  when it comes to providing healthy meals for your family.  A busy schedule to “no excuse” for unhealthy meals.  When my wife worked the “crockpot” was her greatest tool.  She prepared the meal in the evening, plugged it in the next morning and it was ready to eat that evening when she arrived home. To make it even easier for you here’s healthy eating recipes you can start with right now. Now if you have the urge occasionally doing the day or evening for a snack or two there are healthy eating snacks to satisfy your craving.  You can find them here. Don’t ever believe it’s impossible to have a healthy body healthy mind.  Remember what Robert Stuberg said and lets make this happen.

Avoid Eating Food That Kills

There is a product added to enhance taste in foods, called MSG, better known as "monosodium glucamate" and it is in more food than you would imagine. It is worse than alcohol, nicotine and drugs for damaging your health. Yet what is truly disturbing to me is that it passed the FDA approval process and has been called "safe." Here is the government agency that is suppose to protect our health and yet approving of a food product that has been proven even "deadly" in several instances. The problem is the regular media is not making the public aware of the danger of this "killer product." The only way the average person would even know about this danger is they would have to pick up this information up on the Internet, health newsletters, articles, blogs, talk radio or other independent news medias. Now just to show you how hazardous this MSG product really is to your health and why you should avoid eating this food that kills, here is what has been found. It's been linked to Alzheimer's disease and Huntington's Chorea. (A central nervous system movement disorder which is extremely disabling for its sufferers) Many other adverse health effects that have been linked to regular consumption of MSG are: * Obesity * Eye Damage * Headaches * Fatigue and disorientation * Depression MSG consumption has also involved symptoms such as: * Numbness * Burning Sensation * Tingling * Facial pressure or tightness * Chest pain or difficulty breathing * Nausea * Rapid heartbeat * Drowsiness * Weakness Now the really troublesome thing about this "killer product" is it goes under many other names besides MSG. It's a long list and you can find it here: Besides avoiding MSG in processed food in your typical grocery shopping there are other places where you can avoid it also, that's fast food restaurants. All of them are to some degree adding MSG to their food. For instance at McDonald's, a close reading of a list of their classic recipes from the 50's through the 70's reveals a disturbing amount of MSG in their products has caused much controversy. Even today MSG is still present in some form in their products: They include Grilled Chicken Filet, Sausage Patty, French-Fries and even their diet soft drinks too. What should really shock you is to know that MSG can actually cause many of your brain cells to die. Whew! That is scary and should alert you to avoid eating certain food containing this product.  Another disturbing factor is the concern of a new mom baby’s health. You see if the mother isn’t able to breast-feed her newborn child, she should stay away from formulas, because many of them contain MSG. Her best choice should be feeding raw milk to her baby. Can you believe the FDA approval process would let this happen? Why is it that living a healthy life here in America has become such a chore? Well here are a couple of reasons. * Manufactures of food products, which includes not only processed food but also meat, poultry, fish and just about any food product, apparently don't have people's health as a concern. So it's best to avoid eating food that that is harmful to your health by purchasing your food in organic supermarkets. * The FDA approval process to make sure all food products are safe is the biggest joke in Washington. Ever wonder why this is happening? Could it be that corporate profits are more important than people's lives? So the only real course to follow is to be sure you know what you are eating and make sure you take charge of your personal health yourself. That's the best information I know to give you and that is actually what I do. If you want some more real health tips you can find them here:

Cooking With Oils

Everyone knows the foods to eat that improve health, although how we cook the food can be just as important. With there being so many oils and butter products claiming to be the best, it can be quite difficult to know which ones to use and which ones to avoid.1.  Canola oilCanola oil is a popular oil, with many physicians claiming that it has the ability to lower the risk of heart disease.  The oil is low in saturated fat, high in monounsaturated fat, and offers the best  fatty acid composition when compared to other oils. You can use canola oil in sauting, as a marinade and even in low temperature stir frying.  It has a bland flavor, which makes it a great oil for foods that contain many spices.  Unlike other oils, this one won't interfere with the taste of your meal. 2.  Olive oilOlive oil offers a very distinct flavor with plenty of heart healthy ingedients.  The oil is rich in monounsaturated fat, helps to lower cholesterol levels and reduce risk of cancer.  It's also rich in antioxidants and has a very long storage life. Even though it can be used in cooking, it's the healthiest when uncooked, such as with a salad or dipping sauce.  When you use it with cooking, you should heat it on low to medium temperatures, making sure to avoid high heat.3.  ButterButter is one food that has been around for many, many years.  Butter tastes good, and offers sources of Vitamin A and other fat soluble vitamins such as E, K, and even D.  Butter is also made from natural ingredients and not chemically or artificially  processed. You can use butter with cooking, baking, or even as a spread.  You can also pair it with creamy sauces, marinades, baked dishes, or even bread.4.  Margarine Margarine was first introduced as an alternative to high fat butter.  When it was first created however, it was loaded with trans fat, a substance that we now know raises bad cholesterol. As a cooking oil, margarine tastes good, it's lower in fat than most oils and butter, and it's quite  easy to spread.  It's available in a variety of different products and a good source of vitamin E. However it's best to stay away from. When it comes to cooking with oils, there are several at your disposal.  There are many more than what is mentioned here, although the ones above are the most popular.  Eating healthy involves cooking healthy food - which is where your cooking oil really takes center stage.Get some other great heath tips here now.

What to Consider When Choosing an Exercise Video

Are you interested in losing weight?  If you are, you may be interested in starting your own weight loss program.  Of course, you can join a local weight loss program or even an online weight loss program, but many individuals prefer to do their own, at-home weight loss programs. If you are one of those individuals, you may be interested in buying exercise videos. Exercise videos, also commonly referred to as workout videos, are a great addition to any weight loss program. Although you may have bought workout videos before, have you even done so when seriously trying to lose weight?  In the United States, a large number of individuals buy exercise videos just because.  Just because exercise videos are a lot different than exercise videos that are a part of a weight loss plan. That is why you should shop for them differently. When it comes to buying exercise videos for yourself, as a part of your weight loss program, there are number of important factors that you may want to take into consideration.  These factors will not only make buying exercise videos for yourself easier, but they will also help to ensure that you choose the exercise video or videos that are best for you and your own personal needs.  A few of the many factors that you should take into consideration, when buying an exercise video are outlined below. One of the many factors that you will want to take into consideration, when buying exercise videos as a part of your weight loss plan, is the type of exercises that you want to do.  For instance, you often get to choose between traditional aerobic videos, yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, and so forth.  To spice up your weight loss plan and to keep it fun and exciting, you may want to think about buying a collection of exercise videos, particularly a mixture of them. Another one of the many factors that you will want to take into consideration, when buying an exercise video for your weight loss program, is difficulty. What you need to remember is that many workout videos come in sessions. For instance, it is possible to find kickboxing videos that are designed for beginners, those at the intermediate level, as well as those at an advanced level. You want to make sure that you choose the right video for yourself.  If you are not careful, you may end up with an advanced workout video that you cannot even use, as you are unable to keep up with the instructor. Cost is another factor that you may want to take into consideration, when buying workout videos or exercise videos for yourself.  In your search for exercise videos, you will find that they are sold for a wide range of prices. Some are affordable, others are a little bit more costly, and many are downright expensive.  Of course, the expensive workout videos may be worth the cost, but you never really know until you order them.  One way to help make sure that you are spending your money wisely is to search for exercise video reviews online.  This can often be done with a standard internet search. The above mentioned factors are just a few of the many that you may want to take into consideration, when buying exercise videos to incorporate into your at-home weight loss program.  Most times, you will find that any exercise video is better than no video at all, but taking the time to find the perfect one will likely make your weight loss program much more enjoyable. Here is the perfect one to consider. And you can experience a free video exercise too. See it here.

Drink Your Way To Weight Loss

Whether you are trying to get rid of an unsightly beer belly or want to look good in a swimsuit, the battle of the bulge can be a tricky one to win. The good news is that it's entirely possible to drop the pounds in a relatively short amount of time. How to lose weight comes down to one thing: burning more calories than you take in.  Therefore, you either have to burn them, or decrease your intake. Here is one way to help you do the latter: Cut out soft drinks. First we'll cover soda, then we'll look at some other options. You may think that drinking just one soda per day doesn't make that much of a difference. If you're active, and have your weight under control, then having the occasional soda is fine. But let's take a look at how that one soda can add up and what the impact on your weight will be when you go with a calorie-free alternative. Let's use some simple math to see what a positive difference this one small change can make when trying to lose weight. The first thing to know is that every 3,500 calories you get rid equals one pound. Next, a typical 12 ounce can of soda contains 150 calories. Okay, here's how it works out...365 days in a year X 150 calories per 12 oz. = 54,750 total calories.54,750 calories divided by 3,500 calories = 15.6 pounds! Talk about a small change that can make add up to significant weight loss. And if you happen to drink soda in larger bottles, it could make a difference of 30 pounds or more. But be careful that you don't replace those calories with other calories. In other words you have to cut those calories out completely to get the full benefit. So, what are the options? Most people think juice is a good replacement for soda. Not if you're counting calories it isn't. For example, while soda may have 150 calories per 12 ounces, grape juice has closer to 250. Some juices have a higher water content, so you'll have to check the label to be sure. However, if it's a choice between soda and fruit juice, go with the juice. At least the juice contains some vital nutrients while soda is nothing but empty calories. Another thing you may not be aware of is that the sugar in soft drinks can make you thirsty. Putting you into an endless loop of drinking calorie-laden beverages to slake the thirst that the same beverages are causing. The best way to quench your thirst when trying to lose weight is water. Keep a large bottle within arm's reach throughout the day, making it easy to take a sip when needed. Want to learn more about good health practices? Go here:

Eating For A Healthy Heart

Bad cholesterol or a bad diet is something we all experience at some point in time.  It's impossibleto eat healthy our whole lives, even though we may try hard to do it.  Eating healthy for your heart is something everyone should try to do, especially when it comes to restoring health and reducing heart attacks. Your heart and food We know these things for sure - a diet high in saturated fats will help raise your cholesterol, which is a risk factor for heart disease.  People that are obese are more prone to heart disease.  A diet high in sodium may elevate your blood pressure, leading to inflammation and even heart disease. To help prevent heart disease and improve your health, put the tips below to good use. Eat plenty of fish Herring, sardines, and salmon are all excellent sources of Omega 3 essential fatty acids.  Other fish are great to, although Omega 3 may help to get your cholesterol down to a healthier level. Choosing healthy fats and oils Saturated fat will increase the risk of heart disease. It's found in meat, butter, and even coconut oil.  You should avoid them until your cholesterol levels are down and you are at a healthy weight.  Even those that love red meats can enjoy seafood and nuts for their main sources of protein. Monounsaturated fats such as olive oils will help you to protect your heart.  Olive oil is an ideal choice for cooking, dressing, or even as a dipping sauce. Plenty of fiber Fiber can help you control your cholesterol.  You can find fiber in whole grain products to help control sugar absorption as well, which will help you keep your digestive system healthy. Choosing carbohydrates Eating for your heart involves staying away from sugary foods such as candy, cookies, cakes, and pastries.  Eating a lot of sugar isn't good for your heart disease at all.  Healthy carbohydrates involve whole grain breads, whole grain pasta, brown rice, and a lot of vegetables.  You should make fruits and vegetables the main aspect of your diet. Healthy cooking methods Stir frying and sauteing with olive oil or canola oil are both great methods, as you shouldn't dip your food in batter and fry it anymore.  If you cook chicken, remove the skin and bake it in the oven in foil. Instead of frying your fish you should always bake it.  Steaming your vegetables can help maintain the most nutrients.  You should use cream sauces or lots of butter any more either.  When you eat vegetables, try squeezing lemon juice on them or using your favorite seasonings. Eating Healthy When Eating Out

If you go out to a restaurant to eat, you probably watch your calories very closely.  To assist you with your calorie watching when dining out, these tips will help you make the most of it. -  Always order salad dressings or sauces on the side, as this way you have control over how much you add to your meal. -  When you order grilled fish or vegetables, you should ask that the food be grilled without butter or oil, or prepared with very little or either or. -  Anytime you order pasta dishes, be on the lookout for tomato based sauces instead of the cream based sauces.  Tomato based sauces are much lower in fat and calories, and tomato sauce can even be counted as a vegetable! -  You should always try to drink water, or tea instead of soda or beverages that contain sugar. -  If you order dessert, share with a friend. Half of the dessert will equal half of the calories. -  When you choose a soup, remember that cream based soups are higher in fat and calories than other soups.  A soup can be a great appetizer, as most are low in calories and you fill you up pretty fast. -  When you are full, stop eating.  Listen to your body and what it tells you. -  If you get full, take half of your meal home.  The second portion of your meal can serve as a second meal later.  This way, you get two meals for the price of one. -  If you're looking to eat less, order two appetizers or an appetizer and a salad as your meal. -  If you get a choice of side dishes, get a baked potato or steamed vegetables instead of french fries.  -  Always look for food on the menu that's baked, grilled, broiled, poached, or steamed.  These types of cooking use less fat in the cooking process and are usually much lower in calories. -  Plain bread or rolls are low in both fat and calories.  When you add the butter and oil, you increase the fat and calorie intake. -  As key ingredients to your meal, choose dishes with fruits and vegetables.  Both fruits and vegetables are great sources of dietary fiber as well as many vitamins and minerals. -  Choose foods made with whole grains, such as whole wheat bread and dishes made with brown rice. -  If you crave dessert, look for something with low fat, such as berries or fruit. -  Always remember not to deprive yourself of the foods you truly love.  All types of foods can fit into a well balanced diet. Healthy Grocery Shopping

Grocery shopping is something we all have to do, even though choosing the right foods can be very hard indeed.  To assist you with your healthy grocery shopping, the tips below can indeed help make things easier than ever before: 1.  Never go grocery shopping on an empty stomach. 2.  Select canned fruits and tuna that are packed in water, not oil or syrup, however fresh organic fruits and organic tuna are better. 3.  Look at the labels for the words "hydrogenated" or "partially hydrogenated".  The earlier you see them appear on the list, the higher the amount of unhealthy trans fatty acids the food will contain. 4.  Don't buy turkey with the skin on it, and if you plan to buy chicken - buy chicken breasts where chickens are raised in an free range enviroment without dangerous antibiotics and growth hormones being given to them. 5.  When you select frozen dinners, select those that are not only low in fat, but low in sodium and cholesterol as well. But since these type foods are considered processed foods use them sparingly. 6.  If you aren't consuming enough dairy products, go with calcium fortified orange juice instead. 7.  Go for whole grain breads, cereals, and rolls.  8.  Give cantaloupe a try.  With just 95 calories, half of the melon will provide more than a day's supply of Vitamin C and beta carotene. 9.  Don't be tricked into buying yogurt covered by nuts or raisins, as the coating is normally made of sugar and partially hydrogenated oils. Just keep in mind to do smart grocery shopping as much as possible. 10.  Get some of the low fat treats, such as pretzels, ginger snaps, and angel food cake. It's even better to shop for snacks in a vitamin supplement store. By following the above tips when grocery shopping, you'll avoid the bad foods and get those that you need.  There are many different healthy foods at the grocery store, all it takes is the will power to go past the bad foods and on to the good ones. Organic food companies are beginning to have a presence in regular groceries now but be careful and become educated what really denotes an organic product. If you have an organic grocery in your area of the country organic grocery shopping is the smartest way to go to protect your health. Whole Foods is a well-known one.  I have spent countless hours researching all aspects of healthy living and I can tell your this is one area of your life you want to be sure you understand what is healthy eating and what is not. Easy Weight Loss Plans That Are Easy And Effective

Are you interested in some easy weight loss plans? If you are, are you in a hurry to do so? While it is advised that you do not rely heavily on fast weight loss, also commonly referred to as rapid weight loss, there are many  individuals who do. If you are interested in losing weight, as quickly as possible, you will want to continue reading on. One of the many ways that you can go about achieving a fat weight loss or rapid weight loss is by being concerned about your daily food intake. When reducing your food consumption it is important that you only reduce your consumption a little bit. Unfortunately many individuals who want to achieve fast weight loss think that they need to stop eating altogether, even if it is for two or three days.   That is something that you do not want to do. Once you resume eating again, you will likely gain all of your weight back, almost automatically.   Maintaining your normal calorie intake is the wisest thing to do. It is also  important to mention that starving yourself is dangerous to your health. In conjunction with reducing your food intake, it is advised that you reduce the amount of sweets or junk food that you eat. For fast weight loss you will want to completely eliminate junk food from your diet even if it is only for a  short period of time or get some good healthy snacks that are available in some health food stores. But if you want the healthiest of snacks, you should grab an apple or an orange instead of a chocolate bar or a bag of chips. With candy and other sweets being high in calories, you may see a significant decrease in your calorie consumption by eliminating them from your diet. Having a regular exercise schedule is another way that you can go about achieving fast weight loss. The thing about using exercise to achieve fast  weight loss is that it is a little bit tricky. With exercise, you may not notice a significant weight loss right away. For instance, it typically takes most  individuals at least a week or two to notice an improvement in their appearance with the use of exercise. With that in mind, the more overweight you are, the sooner you may see a decrease in your weight, often quickly. In keeping with exercise to lose weight, having a daily exercise schedule is important to losing weight, as it helps to limit your calorie intake. When you burn off calories, with the use of exercise, your body absorbs less calories. This is what makes it possible for you to lose weight.  Although your first though may be to start exercising as much as possible, right away, you may want to refrain from doing so. If you aren’t usually physically active, it is best to start out slow. This should significantly reduce your risk of injuries. The above mentioned fast weight loss tips may help you achieve fast weight loss, even if it is only a small weight loss. As a reminder, it is important to proceed with caution. While it is more that possible for you to achieve your fast weight loss goal, it can also be dangerous to you and your health. Here's a program that has the best exercise videos I have ever seen. Easy Weight Loss - Really

You know, it may not be fair that society and advertises perpetuate an unreasonable ideal for what people should look like. Nobody's perfect. On the other hand, there is also a point when it's a good idea to lose weight. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be healthy, or to look your best. Losing weight isn't always easy, but what follows will make it much, much easier. Nothing complicated, just stuff that actually works.Building muscle burns calories even when you're at rest. Wait! While that may be true, the calorie-burning effect of extra muscle tends to be exaggerated. The one thing that is not in dispute is that muscle does burn more calories, pound for pound, than fat does. The only question is how much, but in the battle of the bulging waistline we'll use every trick in the book. Write a plan to lose weight. Even if you're writing down somebody else's plan. The sheer act of writing it down increases the odds of your success. What foods will you be adding or reducing? What new habits will you encourage? What about exercise? There are no right or wrong answers, you know yourself better than anybody, so only you can make the best plan for you. The more specific your plan, the better. Be ready for the inevitable roadblocks and setbacks. Yeah, I'm human, too. There will be times when you veer from your plan. It may be a moment of weakness, or it could be due to an unforeseen circumstance. The trick is to not let it get to you. All too often we make one slip and use that as an excuse for letting our plan slide for the day. Don't let that happen. Forgive and forget and get back to your plan. Make the better choice. This ranks right up there as an easy way to lose weight. For example, let's say you are buying a bag of potato chips (yes, you can eat chips), compare it to another bag and see which has the fewest calories. Or, even better, compare the chips to another snack food, or something from the produce department. You always have a choice. How much weight loss you experience will correspond directly to how good your exercise and food choices are. Perhaps you noticed that we actually said you can eat potato chips earlier. Yes! Chips. It's silly to think you will really be able to swear off the foods you truly love for the rest of your life (barring serious health reasons for doing so). So, instead of fighting it, you're going to control it. How? By eating smaller portions of the foods that do the most damage to your waistline. None of the things we just covered are complicated. Start incorporating them into your daily routine now. The best part is that you can keep eating all of the foods you love if you're willing to build a little extra muscle, have a plan, be prepared, make better choices and keep portions in check. Here's is one of the simplest exercise programs I have ever seen to lose weight and burn fat. Check it out here.

Lose Weight Recipes - Healthy But Taste Great

Are there recipes out there to help you lose weight?  A secret recipe, perhaps?  There are combination's of food that will assist you in losing weight.  Make your own recipe book, "My Weight Loss Recipes". There are many ways to lose weight.  But is there a right or wrong way?  I believe it depends on each individual's body chemistry.  What works for you may not necessarily work for the person next to you. If you are counting calories, you want to focus on foods that are low in fat and high in protein and fiber.  Fresh fruit and vegetables don't have all the unneeded bi-products. Protein is an essential part of your diet.  Try to choose low fat protein.  Such as chicken breast without the skin, low fat yogurt, egg whites.  Protein is the building blocks of cells.  Let's face it you want to build your muscle not break it down to be replaced by fat. Here is a yummy recipe that is one of my favorites.  This recipe can be used as a balanced meal or snack consisting of protein, milk product, fruit and grain.  Greek Yogurt Parfait:  Layer the following:  1 cup Greek fat free yogurt, one cup of strawberries (or berry of your choosing), 2/3 cup low fat granola.  Absolutely delicious and filling! How about a chicken club sandwich for lunch?  Lightly toast 2 slices of whole grain bread (think, fiber).  Slice a piece of grilled chicken or turkey breast (no skin, too much fat).  You can use light or fat free mayo, a dab of mustard.  Top with lettuce, ripe tomato, pickles on the side.  There you have it: low cal, fat; high protein, fiber. Now, what's for dinner?  I thought you would never ask.  Marinade a pack of chicken breast (no skin) overnight (I prefer lemon-pepper). Make a mixture of cooked chopped broccoli, cream of celery.  Tenderize the chicken breast till it is as big as your hand.  Place a spoonful of broccoli mixture in the center, fold all sides, secure with toothpick.  Sprinkle Pepperidge Farm Stuffing on top, lightly sprinkle fat free cheese as well. Place in oven 350 degrees for approximately 30-45 minutes.  There are so many different recipes out there to try to help you lose weight.  Or you can simply take your favorite recipes and put a healthy twist to it.  Making right food choices and turning that into a life style change is key to long term success. Here's a terrific guide that I found that will help you with this situation. Go there now and take a look:

Eat Well And Lose Weight

It's kind of funny, in a sad sort of way, that the number of ineffective, short-lived fad diets continues to grow. And they grow despite the fact that they don't work, at least not as a long-term solution to losing weight. So, what are you supposed to do if you want to lose weight? Eat better. Yep. That's it. Eat better. Okay, seriously, it wouldn't be much if that's all I said. I believe we all know, deep down, that we need to eat better if we stand a chance of shedding those extra pounds. Don't worry, this is going to be as common sense as it is easy to follow. No fad diet nonsense, just what works. Food is nothing more than fuel for the body. It contains the vitamins, minerals and calories we need to survive. We only get in trouble when we eat too many calories without burning them off. Some foods are better than others, but nothing is forbidden. Here's how you can use food to put the odds of weight loss in your favor. Start the day with something to get the internal furnace started. That means eating breakfast. There is no reason to skip breakfast. It takes virtually no time at all to grab a piece of whole-wheat toast and spread some peanut butter on it, then wash it down with a glass of orange juice. Or boil up some eggs for the upcoming week. Then have an egg, a banana and a granola bar. Even a ready made breakfast shake is better than nothing. The trick is to get your body use to burning calories for the day.  Now that you have your metabolism fired up, you need to keep it going by snacking. A light snack every two hours is all it takes. A small handful of nuts, some carrot sticks with non-fat yogurt, or a protein bar, are good choices. Regular snacking will prevent you from experience mid-afternoon burn out, too. So, now it's lunchtime and you're feeling great! You're eating food you like and you're not hungry. Let's keep going with turkey breast on whole-grain bread, romaine lettuce, tomato and a smear of mustard. Add a veggie-rich salad and a small glass of juice or skim milk and you're all set. Don't forget your two-hour snack break. For supper try some baked salmon brushed with olive oil and a squeeze of lemon. Include some fresh veggies of your choice (bake them with the salmon if you like), and a cup of homemade soup. Yummy! Remember to eat your next snack. As you can see, this is all reasonable, simple eating. Food is there to keep you going, and it needs to be tasty, too. Remember, nothing is off limits. If you must have some ice cream, just keep the portion under control. Make it a habit to increase the better foods, and eat less of the not-so-good ones and you lose weight fast. Faster than you may have thought possible. Get some tremendous ideas about nutrition and many good health ideas.  Learn more right here.

Healthy Food Choices

Eating healthy is something we all would like to do, although it can be hard.  In order to eat healthy, you must first make the right food choices.  Eating healthy is all about what you eat, which makes the choices very crucial to your results. Grains You should consume 6 ounces of grains per day.  To do this, you can eat 3 ounces of whole grain cereals, breads, rice, crackers, or pasta.  You can get an ounce of grains in a single slice of bread, or 1 cut of cereal. Vegetables These should be varied, as you should eat 2 1/2 cups of them each day.  You should start eating more of the dark vegetables, such as broccili and spinach.  Carrots and sweet potatoes are good as well.  You should also eat more dry beans such as peas, pinto beans, and even kidney beans. Fruits Fruits are very important.  You should try to eat 2 cups of them each day.  Focus on eating a variety, such as fresh, frozen, canned, or even dried fruit.  You can drink fruit juices as well, although you should use moderation when doing so. Milk Milk is your calcium rich friend.  For adults, 3 cups is the ideal goal.  For kids 2 - 8, 2 cups is where you want to be.  When choosing milk products or yogurt, you should go for fat-free or low-fat.  Those of you who don't like milk or can't have it, should go for lactose free products or other sources of calcium such as fortified foods and beverages. Meat and beans Eating 5 ounces a day is the ideal goal, as you should go lean with your protein.  When eating meat, always bake it, grill it, or broil it, as this will prevent grease from adding to the equation.  You should vary your protein as well, with more fish, beans, peas, and nuts. When cooking your food, you should also limit solid fats such as butter, margarine, shortening, and lard.  These foods may add flavor to your dishes, although they can also help raise your cholesterol as well.  Therefore, you should try to add these foods and any foods that happen to contain them. To help keep your saturated fat, trans fat, and sodium low, you can check the nutrition facts label.  This label can be found on the food package and will tell you all the information you need to know about the food item. By picking your foods wisely and watching what you eat, you'll help control your lifestyle.  Exercise is great as well, as it goes along perfect with a healthy eating lifestyle.  No matter what your age may be, eating healthy will help you keep your active lifestyle for years and years - even help you and your health in the long run as well. Changing How You Eat

As you may know, not fueling up with the right nutrients can affect how well your body performs and your overall fitness benefits.  Even though healthy eating is important, there are myths that hinder your performance if you listen to them. Below, you'll find some myth busters on healthy eating. 1.  Working out on an empty stomach. If you hear a rumbling noise in your stomach, the rumbling is trying to tell you something.  Without listening to them, you are forcing your body to run without any fuel.  Before you exercise or do any physical activity, always eat a light snack such as an apple. 2.  Relying on energy bars and drinks. Although they are fine every once in a while, they don't deliver the antioxidants you need to prevent cancer.  Fruits and vegetables are your best bets, as they are loaded in vitamins, minerals, fluid, and fiber. 3.  Skipping breakfast. Skipping breakfast is never a good idea, as breakfast starts the day.  Your body needs fuel as soon as possible, and without it, you'll be hungry throughout the day. 4.  Low carb diets. Your body needs carbohydrates for your muscles and the storing of energy. 5.  Eating what you want. Eating healthy and exercising doesn't give you an all access pass to eat anything you want.  Everyone needs the same nutrients whether they exercise or not, as well as fruits and vegetables. 6.  Not enough calories Although losing weight involves calories, losing it too quickly is never safe.  What you should do, is aim for 1 - 2 pounds a week.  Always make sure that you are getting enough calories to keep your body operating smoothly.  If you start dropping weight too fast, eat a bit more food. 7.  Skip soda and alcohol. Water, milk, and juice is the best to drink for active people.  You should drink often, and not require on thirst to be an indicator.  By the time you get thirsty, your body is already running a bit too low. Changing how you eat is always a great step towards healthy eating and it will affect how your body performs.  The healthier you eat, you better you'll feel.  No matter how old you may be, healthy eating is something you should strive for.  Once you give it a chance, you'll see in no time at all just how much it can change your life - for the better. Get some great ideas about healthy living right here.
