Restylane: Frequently asked questions

Non-surgical cosmetic procedures are the most common cosmetic procedures in the country. The reasons for this growth are obvious: they are effective, easy to do with little or no down time, and in the right hands patients can achieve wonderful results. Most patients do not want to dramatically change their appearance. They want to look more youthful and rested, not done or artificial.

Patient Responsibilities with The IPLEDGE System

Due to the risk of severe birth defects, the use of isotretinon (Accutane, Amnesteem, Sotret, Claravis) is tightly regulated by the Food and Drug Administration through the nationwide IPledge system.

IPL - Intense Pulsed Light

An Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy device uses special lamps to produce short bursts of high intensity, precisely focused light. It is similar to laser technology, but employs multiple wavelengths of light rather than just one. In dermatology, IPL therapy is used to treat a variety of skin conditions by destroying targeted cells without damaging surrounding tissues. Broadband Light (BBL) therapy, much like IPL, uses a range of light wavelengths for focused skin treatment.

Vein Treatment

Blood vessels are an essential part of your circulatory system. They carry blood from the heart to every part of the body and back again, maintaining healthy levels of oxygenation. Large ones are called arteries, veins are similar but smaller, and capillaries are the tiniest. When the tiny valves that regulate flow through the veins don't operate properly, blood backs up and causes varicose veins or spider veins.

Laser Hair Removal

Unwanted hair can be a big source of embarrassment for men and women. We also spend a great deal of time and money each year dealing with it. A daily routine of razor and foam or an electric shaver; messy cream, lotion, or spray depilatories; painful waxing and tweezing and none of them provides long-lasting results.

Radiesse treatments in Atlanta

A youthful face has full cheeks, elasticity, a well defined jawline and minimal sagging With time and exposure to ultraviolet light, these signs of youth are diminished. Though there are many ways to restore the youthful face, not all filler agents offer both instant improvement and the ability to stimulate collagen formation to give enduring results. Radiesse can do both these things. Radiesse is not a beginners filler.

Radiesse

Radiesse is a cosmetic volumizing filler which delivers immediate results and stimulates the body's natural formation of collagen in the skin for longer lasting rejuvenation. It is formulated with minute microspheres of calcium hydroxyapatite suspended in a water-based gel. Those microspheres are similar to minerals naturally found in our bodies which provide strength to bones. It is FDA-approved, safe, and non-toxic.

Juvederm/Restylane

Juvederm, Restylane, and Perlane are dermal fillers composed of hyaluronic acid. This inert substance is naturally found in skin. It binds to water to plump the skin and add volume. It is derived from a non-animal source so allergic reaction is rare. Hyaluronic acid injectables are completely reversible. They can be dissolved within 24 hours using hyaluronidase, if a patient does not like results.

Skin Cancer

Rates of skin cancer are rising every year in the United States, including right here in Atlanta. The reasons for this rise are complex, including longer life spans, more leisure time and sun exposure and the use of tanning beds. At the same time, there is confusion over who should get screened for skin cancer and how often. The most important part of preventing and recognizing skin cancer begins with patients themselves. There are three main types of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma.
