Dental Implants, Implant Overdentures

When an individual is missing teeth, they have a variety of options when it comes to replacing the tooth with a restorative prosthesis, in order to give them a natural, flawless smile. One of these treatment options may include dental implants. Dental implants are small titanium posts which are placed into the upper or lower jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for replacement teeth.

Replacing dentures with Marietta dental implants

It was only recently that advances in dentistry brought us alternative ways to deal with a missing tooth or teeth. For decades, the floating denture appliance was the only way to attain a functionally beautiful smile after the removal or loss of all teeth. Of course, there have been improvements made to the denture appliance, and this option for replacing teeth is still used today.

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns replace missing tooth structure, support misshapen or badly broken teeth, and look like natural teeth. They are made of different types of porcelain: porcelain fused to tooth-colored core materials, porcelain fused to metal, or gold. For crowns that are being placed in the back of the mouth where chewing and strength are required, we will typically place gold crowns because of their durability. They never break and last an extremely long period of time.

Restoring the smile with a dental bridge from our Kennesaw practice

Various circumstances may lead to the loss of a tooth. Whether due to direct injury or tooth decay, once a permanent tooth is lost or removed the priority becomes replacement. Leaving an empty space in the mouth is never recommended, as teeth tend to shift to fill the void. A further complication of a lost tooth is that harmful bacteria may thrive with extra areas to hide at the gum line.

Veneers

Porcelain veneers are used to change the look and appearance of a smile. They can change the shade of the tooth, the shape of the tooth, or the contour of the tooth. They can also be used to fix chips, cracks, malalignment concerns, and address stains on the tooth that have not responded well to teeth whitening or bleaching alternatives. They are virtually undetectable, and oftentimes do not require much in terms of tooth preparation.

Benefits outweigh dental veneers cost in our Kennesaw practice

How our smile looks has a direct impact on how we view ourselves. When teeth are not in their best state, we may feel too apprehensive to smile freely, which consequently impacts personal interactions both socially and professionally. Today, cosmetic dentistry is widely used by those who wish to improve the appearance of their smiles. In many instances, the ideal form of treatment is dental veneers.

Root Canal Therapy

A root canal is a common dental treatment to alleviate pain and/or infection of a decayed or injured tooth. This may be due to a nerve of a tooth, and is oftentimes caused by a cavity or some sort of decay within the tooth. Trauma can also cause problems to your tooth, such as the clenching or grinding of the teeth.

Root canal therapy is nothing to fear

Root canal therapy is one of those dental procedures that patients tend to want to avoid. Over the years, people have looked at the root canal as a procedure that is particularly unpleasant and riddled with anxiety. In reality, it is not the procedure itself that is painful and unpleasant, but the oral infection that leads to the need for treatment with your root canal dentist in Kennesaw.

Looking your best with teeth whitening treatment from your Marietta dentist

Our teeth have been with us since before we can remember. We learn to clean and care for them when we are still children, and subsequently spend very little time pondering their overall purpose. Our teeth, it is understood, are functional body parts, helping us chew food so that it can be digested. In truth, the smile is one of the first things we notice about one another.

Gum Disease

Three out of every four Americans have some form of gum disease. Gum disease, otherwise known as periodontal disease, is an autoimmune response to specific bacteria that are anaerobic, meaning that they do not require oxygen to survive. Gum disease starts by the loss of bone around the teeth, in which the teeth become loose because there is no supportive bone in order to hold the teeth in place.
