Botox

When we make expressions, the muscles in our faces contract resulting in movement of, and creases in, the overlying skin. As skin loses its elasticity with age, those lines and folds become visible when the face is at rest. This can result in the face appearing older or a constant angry or stressed expression. Botox is a medication that relaxes muscles.

Mole Removal

Mole removal may be performed for both medical and cosmetic reasons. A medical reason to remove a mole would be to determine if the lesion represents a form of skin cancer or if it causing the patient physical discomfort. When a mole develops a change in, or has an unusual, size, shape or color this creates concern that skin cancer may be developing.

Facials

Most people are familiar with facials for relaxing and pampering purposes, however, facials can be used for medical reasons and cosmetic reasons. Both men and women can enjoy and benefit from a facial. People with and without skin problems can also enjoy the effects of having a facial.

Cosmetic Dermatology

At Aglow Dermatology, we are sensitive to the fact that choosing to have a cosmetic procedure is a personal decision. Patients interested in cosmetic dermatology commonly want to either look younger or enhance their appearance in another way. Cosmetic dermatologists treat the signs of aging, such as with the removal of wrinkles, or they may address problems such as acne scars, blemishes or unwanted hair.

Skin Cancer Screening

Skin cancer is one of the most common types of human cancer. Although it is much more common in people with fair skin, people of all ethnic backgrounds can develop skin cancer. Wearing board-spectrum sunscreen and avoiding unnecessary sun exposure reduces a person's risk of developing skin cancer. Sun bathing and especially using tanning booths increases a person's risk of developing skin cancer.

Dermal Fillers

As we age, we lose volume and elasticity in our faces resulting in wrinkles, folds around the mouth and hollowing around the eyes and cheeks. Bony changes in our faces also result in a more aged appearance. When the signs of aging are from volume loss, dermal fillers are a great way to achieve a more youthful appearance.

Juvederm

As we age, we often experience volume loss in our faces. This can make our faces appear more "sunken in," and can cause skin to sag and form folds resulting in a more aged appearance or a tired or sad expression. Facial volume loss can also be a concern of younger people who have lost weight or people who are very fit and have low body fat.

Hair Removal

Permanent removal of unwanted hair on the face and body using light technology such as lasers and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) has become an increasingly popular service. Sometimes hair growth is normal, but a person just wants to remove it for cosmetic reasons and convenience. Some people develop folliculitis or razor bumps and blemishes from ingrown hairs or as a result of more traditional hair removal techniques such as shaving or waxing.

Acne Treatments

Are you frustrated by over-the-counter acne treatments that don't work? Are you ready to work with an expert to enjoy life with clear skin? Are you ready to get rid of your acne scars? Although a benign condition, acne commonly affects a person's confidence and self esteem. People with acne can experience discrimination in social and professional settings.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are a type of procedure during which a substance is applied to the skin resulting in faster skin cell turnover (exfoliation or peeling). The goal of chemical peeling is to rejuvenate the skin or address a specific problem such as acne, acne scars, razor bumps, blemishes, melasma wrinkles, sun damage or fine lines.
