Market Research for E-zines part 7

Making the most of your solo ad, make sure you have it link to either a capture page (page with a subscribe box)or link it directly to your autoresponder. Your autoresponder should ideally be loaded with a few informational messages that will "warm them up" to you. If you offer quality, useful information, you'll develop trust. This may lead to possible multiple sales in the future. Instead

Market Research for E-zines part 6

Don't get in a big hurry! I wish I had followed all of the previous research tips when I first started. It's unbelievable how unscrupulous the market is. I used to get ripped off about one in every 3 or 4 ads I placed. I haven't been ripped off in I don't know how long now. This is due to patient researching. As much as I want to make a lot of money now, it simply won't happen if my expenses are

Market Research for E-zines part 5

Before talking about ad copy, I first need to take a step back. When subscribing to ezines, see if they require you to double opt in. This will be a mark of a higher quality ezine and will usually mean that most subscribers read this ezine and are more responsive to ads. Also, if they require your main email address and don't accept yahoo or hotmail, this will mean an even higher quality due to

Market Research for E-zines part 4

Ad Trackers One of the key tools that will help you build a list of the best places to advertise is the ad tracker. It is extremely important that you never advertise without a way to track it. I use a lot of both free and paid advertising and if I didn't use a tracker, I'd have no way of knowing where to make the most of my advertising budget. If you track your ads, you'll eventually build a

Market Research for E-zines part 3

Before I start talking about part 3, I'd like to make a couple of comments about the ezine industry and business online in general. First, my hat's off to anyone who's doing it and keeping up with it. Especially those who also work full time. I have a 12 hour a day regular job and sometimes it goes a little more than that. Add in family time etc. and it seems my online efforts start to suffer.

Market Research for E-zines part 2

After subscribing to some ezines, how do we start to cull out the undesirables and narrow down the list of possible ezines to advertise in? The next thing I look for is how they present their solo ads. (remember; no solo ads means no advertisers or worse...) Do they put the solo ads subject line in the email's subject, or do they just say it's a solo ad from "xyz ezine"? My ad has a very catchy

Market Research for E-zines

Ezine Advertising Research Tips When researching ezines to advertise in, it's important to subscribe to them in order to see if they run any ads. No ads means no advertisers or worse; they take your money and don't run the ad. You'll likely want to subscribe to many ezines at a time. So, what I did was to create an email directory named myezines under my main account and send all my ezine

New ezine ad test published

Merry Christmas, Just published the results of my solo ad in Sunnydays4ever ezine. This may be a good one to test later on when ad responses are typically better. December is normally a poor month to advertise in. My next test will be in Popular Marketing Ezine They charge $27.97 for one solo ad or $49.97 for 2. Think I'll do 2 solos, since that strategy usually works well. I'll probably shoot

News feed added

Finally got a good news feed installed on the site. This is a php version, which is friendlier to search engine spiders. They can't read the javascript versions. The best site about RSS feeds that's easy to understand and provides all the software etc. necessary is Gekotribe. RSS feeds are supposed to add value to your website and build traffic. I've read that yahoo likes to spider through rss

Ezine advertising: Best and Worst

A little over a year ago, I started using ezine advertising almost exclusively to help build a contact list. During that time, I discovered some gems and some absolute scamsters and everything in between. Trouble was that the mediocre and scamsters seemed to greatly out-weigh the gems. I already had Jim Brown's list of the top 35 ezines(many of which are out of business) and exhausted any of
