Admittedly, the only movie of Chris Nolan that I've enjoyed is Memento. Other than that, I just haven't been too impressed. I would say he has sexual roles in Batman Begins and Batman Begins Again: the Dark Knight. But only in the way that he has Katy Holmes' character in love with Bruce Wayne. Of course, nothing compares to the sexuality between Batman and Catwoman. Though, maybe in the next one we'll have some homosexuality. That is, if the next one is "Batman is Done Beginning: Robin Begins."The metaphor for movie making is ok, yeah...but if that's the case, what a stupid metaphor. Are we really that entrenched in post-modern/meta film? Why not pick a better topic for a metaphor? And, what's the point of Leo's wife then? She like some crazy lady who's trying to stop production of the film?
i thought it was mediocre as well. i did, however, read an interesting critique that posits the entire film- from beginning to end- is a dream, and a parable for movies/moviemaking in general. leo = director. juno = screenwriter. bulky dude = actor. 3rd rock = producer. '28 days later' dude = audience.interesting read, but doesn't exactly make me admire the movie more. in terms of sexual roles, chris nolan movies (prestige, dark knight) tend to all be super clinical/nonsexual. i think he's just an ice queen.
